TEHRAN， Dec。 19 （Xinhua） —— The Iranian envoy to Houthi-controlled Sanaa in Yemen is being taken home for COVID-19 treatment， Iranian news network Press TV reported on Sunday。
Quoting Iranian Foreign Ministry‘s Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh as saying， the TV report said “Hassan Irloo needed urgent medical attention days after contracting the infectious disease。”
Khatibzadeh thanked the countries that helped the envoy’s transfer to Iran as “humanitarian act。”
According to other Iranian media， Irloo is being transferred to Iran by an Iraqi plane after Baghdad mediated between Tehran and Riyadh。 The Saudi-led coalition maintains an air blockade on Yemen。
Yemen has been mired in civil war since late 2014， when the Iran-backed Houthis militants seized control of much of the country‘s north and forced the Saudi-backed government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi out of the capital Sanaa。 Enditem
